What changes for UK listeners?

Radio Garden’s official UK statement says UK users cannot access stations outside the United Kingdom for licensing reasons and that this restriction has been extended indefinitely. Statement checked on . This does not establish whether a particular station will work in the UK through Roam Radio; broadcaster and network restrictions can still apply.

For a broader choice organised by task, see Radio Garden alternatives for maps, languages, open data and connected devices.

Try a specific listening journey

  1. Start with Spanish-language radio, Germany, or jazz. A language tag describes a directory listing; it does not guarantee that every program uses that language.
  2. Open a station's detail page. Check the broadcaster's website and the date and result of the stream check before pressing Listen.
  3. Press Play in the web player and save a favorite if it suits you. Your favorites stay in this browser. If playback fails, try another listed stream or follow the listening troubleshooting guide.

Which approach suits you?

Try Roam Radio when you want to move between a globe, country lists and language or genre collections, then read a station's cited background. Radio Garden's documented globe and curated playlists are another way to discover unfamiliar broadcasts. Try the same broadcaster on each service to judge the experience on your own device.

Neither a directory entry nor a map marker is a promise that audio will work everywhere. Roam Radio's secure web player cannot play HTTP-only streams. Background listening depends on your browser and operating system. We do not claim a larger working catalog or better reception than Radio Garden.

Questions before switching

Is Roam Radio free to use without an account?
Yes. The Roam Radio web player lets you browse, search, listen and save favorites without creating an account. Favorites are stored in this browser.
Does Roam Radio have a globe like Radio Garden?
Both offer globe-based radio discovery. Roam Radio also has country, language and genre directories. Its map points can be approximate when exact station coordinates are unavailable.
Can I transfer my Radio Garden favorites to Roam Radio?
Roam Radio does not currently import Radio Garden favorites. Search for each station by name, check its country and official website, and save it in Roam Radio.
Does a successful stream check guarantee playback?
No. A short decode check records evidence at a particular time and location. A broadcaster may later change the stream or restrict access, and your browser or network may behave differently.
