Directory snapshot, refreshed periodically (revision 1587). Published stations with failed, HTTP-only or unconfirmed saved playback evidence are excluded from this answer count. Audio-test dates on station pages are separate observations.

How many German radio stations can I listen to on Roam Radio?
Roam Radio lists 21 German-language stations with HTTPS streams in this page’s directory snapshot. This is a snapshot of this selection, not a count of streams guaranteed to play now.
Which countries are they from?
The listings in this selection are from Austria, Germany, and Namibia. A listed country is not a statement about where a stream can be heard.
Which stations are good for listening practice?
The directory tags identify Radio CORAX and Radio K.W. as news/talk listings without recognised music tags. Use them as listening-practice starting points and check the broadcaster’s current programme.

Find German-language radio beyond a single country. This selection brings together music, culture, local services and news where those genres appear in the directory. A German-language label describes a listing, not the language of every programme or song.

30 evidence-backed station pages from 4 countries are included below. These counts describe this selection, not every station or currently playable stream.

Choose a station

For spoken German, look at each station’s listed genres and open its detail page before listening. Music-led services may include songs in other languages. The country in a listing describes the station, not where you must be to listen.

For listening practice, news and talk stations can be a better starting point than music stations. The groups below use directory tags, not a measurement of spoken content: music-tagged and mixed-format listings appear later, and missing tags are not treated as evidence of speech. Language labels do not guarantee that every programme is in that language.

News and talk

These listings have news or talk-related tags and no recognised music tags. Check the broadcaster’s programme information for what is on now.

Music and mixed formats

These listings carry music tags; some also carry news or talk tags. They are not presented as speech-first learning examples.

Other or unclassified formats

The available tags do not establish a news/talk or recognised music format. No format is inferred from the station’s name or country.

Selection and stream-check method

The station pages use Radio Browser directory records and cited Wikidata facts. Each example has a canonical A/B station page and a dated check of at least five decoded seconds from an enabled HTTPS stream. Checks ran on 2026-10-30 (UTC) from one network location. Deleted or disabled listings, changed language/genre labels and unavailable checked HTTPS lines are excluded when the page is rendered. Results may be cached for up to 15 minutes.

No current programme, playlist or worldwide availability is inferred. Radio Browser data is public domain and Wikidata facts are CC0. Read the individual station page for its sources and the stream-check methodology.

Frequently asked questions

How are these German radio stations selected?
30 canonical station pages meet Roam Radio’s A/B publication checks, match the directory’s German language labels, and have a successful dated HTTPS decode check for this collection. This is an editorial sample, not the complete directory or a popularity ranking.
Are these German radio stations all based in Germany?
No. The examples on this page are listed in Germany, Austria, Namibia, Switzerland. The language label and the country of a station are separate fields.
Do the audio checks guarantee playback now?
No. Each listed station decoded at least five seconds from one HTTPS stream in a test dated 2026-10-30 (UTC). A broadcaster can change, stop or restrict a stream after the test. This is not a live availability or audio-quality measurement.
Do I need an account to listen to German radio online?
No. Roam Radio’s web player does not require a listener account. Open a station page, then use its listening button. Favourites and listening history stay in the browser or device.
What if a station will not play?
Check your connection and volume, try another listed stream or another station, and consult the broadcaster’s website. Location restrictions, stream changes and device support can affect playback.

These browser listening lists omit listings without an enabled HTTPS stream in the available directory record. They remain in the directory. HTTPS is a connection requirement, not a guarantee of playback: formats, redirects, location restrictions and outages can still prevent listening. Why HTTP-only streams cannot play here.
