Radio stations by language

A language filter helps you find broadcasts beyond a country’s borders. A country label describes where a station is listed; it does not determine the language of its speech, songs or every programme. Start with a researched guide below, or use a language term in the web player’s search.

Read the counts before comparing them

Directory snapshot, refreshed periodically. Captured 2026-11-01 (UTC), revision 1587, from a directory with 67,921 enabled listings. This table covers 28 selected search labels; it is not an inventory of every language or genre in the world.

Counts use the same directory search rule as the Spanish-language and jazz collection totals: a case-insensitive substring match in the language field, counting a listing once per query. For example, an English query also includes an American English label. A record can match several rows. These are listings, not unique broadcasters, listeners or streams confirmed to play.

Labels are supplied by contributors and can be absent or written in another language. Treat these counts as a lower-bound view of tagged directory listings, not an exact measure of how much radio is broadcast in each language. The linked API response may change after the dated snapshot; numbers are not fetched live while you read this page.

Choose a language, then a listening context

If you want speech, inspect a station’s news, talk or cultural tags and consult its official programme information. A music station labelled with a language may play songs in others. The Spanish guide and German guide describe their own dated samples; their sample sizes are not the directory totals in this table.

Search contributor spellings as well as familiar language names when the first results are incomplete. The directory does not infer a missing language from a station’s country. To explore location separately, use the radio map or UK country page.

Examples with recorded audio checks

These are starting points from the existing Spanish-language collection, not a ranking or examples of every label above. Each cited record decoded eight seconds of its listed HTTPS stream. The date is a past observation from one network, not a promise of playback now.

Separate discovery from availability

Language and genre labels help you choose what to try. They do not establish current availability, audio quality, a programme schedule or permission to listen in every country. See the quality methodology, or follow the playback checklist when a station fails.

Sources and refresh method

Counts come from the public Roam Radio directory API using the per-row query links above. Directory records come from Radio Browser, IPRD, WebradioDB and operator-maintained entries; see source credits. A refresh reads the catalog revision before and after all count queries and rejects a mixed-revision snapshot. Check dates for the examples are retained separately from the directory snapshot date.

Questions and answers

How do I find radio stations in a specific language?
Start with a linked language guide or search the web player for a language label. Contributor labels can be missing, incomplete or overlapping, so the dated directory counts are a lower-bound view of labelled listings, not a census of broadcasts or proof of the language currently on air.
